The Philadelphia Eagles have traded a draft pick to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a quarterback, but it’s not their first pick of the draft. The Eagles have a new head coach in Doug Pederson, who is a former position coach for Andrew Luck, Ben Roethlisberger, and Sam Bradford. The Eagles have been looking for a quarterback for a while, and Minshew fits their offense perfectly, as he’s a tall, strong, accurate passer with a big arm, but he’s also a good decision-maker and a solid leader.
After missing most of last season due to injury, the Eagles released the most important player they had on offense for most of the previous 2 seasons. The team moved on with most of their second and third string players, and now they finally have a chance to see what Minshew can do as a starter.
One of the top undrafted players in the country, Minshew was a member of Alabama’s 2017 recruiting class, and his signing was regarded as a coup for the Crimson Tide. The quarterback signed with the team in December, and despite not taking a snap for the Tide, he still started to make an impression on Nick Saban and his coaching staff. The former quarterback provided the Tide with a solid backup plan for last year’s starter, Jalen Hurts.. Read more about gardner minshew and let us know what you think.
Gardner Minshew is the newest addition to the quarterback room of the Philadelphia Eagles.
No, he won’t be starting over Jalen Hurts (in fact, he doesn’t seem to be the team’s current quarterback2). Instead, Howie Roseman and the Eagles saw a chance to get a good deal on a young quarterback with genuine NFL potential. On the Eagles’ side, all it took was a Day 3 selection, which was a no-brainer in terms of value.
Minshew will be slotted into the Eagles’ QB3 position with the hopes of developing him over the next year or so — a fact that Minshew will have to accept.
Gardner Minshew has no desire to be a backup quarterback. QB
“In weeks, I haven’t taken a crap. Number two isn’t a viable choice.” On Friday’s @JOEL9ONE #GreenLight pod, @GardnerMinshew5 had perhaps the best response ever when asked how he felt about Lawrence getting selected.

Being a backup is something that very few professional sportsmen like. Being a competitor comes with the territory. However, during a recent interview on Chris Long’s podcast “Green Light with Chris Long,” Minshew voiced his displeasure with being labeled Trevor Lawrence’s backup with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Jaguars Wire’s James Johnson followed up on Minshew’s podcast remarks with further information on the third-year quarterback’s ambition to fight for a starting job:
To be honest, it seems like Minshew’s greatest shot of starting will be with a different club. Although there was trade interest in him this spring, Jaguars coach Urban Meyer said that the club would be keeping Minshew (at least for now).
Holding on to Minshew, who is ready to take his team through his first-ever training camp as an NFL coach, may prove to be a wise decision, as he possesses a mentality that will surely push Lawrence. At the same time, Minshew may have a strong preseason, giving him more trade possibilities than previously. Even if it doesn’t, the Jags may have one of the greatest backup quarterbacks in the NFL in Week 1 of the regular season.

Minshew achieved his desire of not having to be Lawrence’s backup in Jacksonville, but now he’s in an even worse position.
The Philadelphia Eagles’ quarterback room is packed and complex.

While there’s a possibility Minshew may overtake Flacco on the depth chart by the end of the season, the harsh truth is that the Eagles signed Minshew to be their QB3.
From Jacksonville’s QB2 to Philadelphia’s QB3. Minshew was searching for something different in a deal.
Minshew, obviously, had no choice in where he would be moved. The Eagles’ offer of a paltry Day 3 pick had to be the best out there, right? There were no clubs interested in acquiring Minshew as a starter, which is something the 25-year-old will have to accept.

Hurts is about as untested a quarterback as you can find in today’s NFL, and Flacco is a shadow of his former self. Minshew should have a chance to grow into a bigger position with the Eagles, even if it is restricted.
If Hurts struggles, the Eagles may consider starting Minshew instead of Flacco.
Despite this, the former Jaguar will start third on his new team’s quarterback depth chart. For someone who prides himself on being a fierce and passionate competitor, this is a difficult pill to take. Minshew, on the other hand, will have to deal with it one way or another.
Despite a good debut season in 2019, he’s back to square one. Only time will tell whether he can adjust to his new role and work his way back to a starting position in the coming seasons.
