The fight was a stunning upset for Martin, who has been out of boxing for nearly 10 years.
The Mikey Garcia net worth is a question that has been asked many times. Mikey Garcia, who is the current WBC lightweight champion, had a majority decision victory over Sandor Martin.

Sandor Martin of Spain defeated former four-division champion Mikey Garcia by majority decision on Saturday in Fresno, California, in one of the greatest boxing shocks in recent memory.
Martin (39-2, 13 KOs) had never fought on a global stage before, and this was his first fight outside of Europe. He was supposed to be a keep-you-busy opponent for Garcia, who hadn’t fought since February 2020 and was planning a fight with Regis Prograis in early 2022.
Instead, Martin, a 10-to-1 outsider, stunned the world by winning by scores of 95-95, 97-93, and 97-93 in ten rounds.
Garcia, ESPN’s No. 8 welterweight, said, “He was the one going around a lot.” “In a tight battle, I believed I had the upper hand.

“I was certain that I had done enough to win the rounds. I was the one who was trying to start a fight. There are no excuses; it is what it is.”
Martin, 28, boxed from the back foot the whole night and was able to timing Garcia’s aggressiveness with straight lefts.
As the rounds progressed, it became apparent that this wasn’t just a quick start for the underdog versus a rusty opponent, but a potential upset.
Garcia (40-2, 30 KOs) pushed the action but lacked real intensity, despite the fact that the fight — and maybe his position as a top fighter — was plainly slipping away from him.
Martin was chosen as Garcia’s opponent because he would give him rounds while not posing a danger to win. Martin, on the other hand, had different plans in his debut bout against world-class opposition.
“He’s a great,” Martin said via an interpreter in Spanish. “It was a joy to share the ring with him.” “This is the pinnacle of my career.” I always claimed I’d do it, and I followed through.
“I know who I am and what I am capable of. He’s a complete fighter, but he’s not built for the 147-pound division.”
Garcia, a Southern California native, won championships at 126 pounds, 130 pounds, 135 pounds, and 140 pounds. In a 2019 welterweight championship fight, he was overpowered by Errol Spence Jr. in his quest to become a five-division champion.
Garcia stayed at 147 pounds for a tougher-than-expected unanimous-decision win against Jessie Vargas in February 2020, despite his sluggish performance against Spence.
Garcia had planned to face Prograis at 140 pounds this autumn, but when streaming provider DAZN refused to pay the millions of dollars required to complete the match, Garcia opted to fight Martin to shake off the rust.
Garcia seemed lethargic and slow, indicating that his inactivity and weight gain had finally caught up with him. He couldn’t hit his famous combos or use his superb jab to find Martin.

Garcia is regarded as one of boxing’s finest technicians, having been schooled by his elder brother, famous coach Robert Garcia, but the lengthy layoff seemed to have thrown off his normally impeccable timing.
Martin, too, deserves a lot of praise. He fought calmly for ten rounds behind his southpaw jab, making Garcia pay with scoring combinations on many times.
He didn’t look like the guy who fell to fringe candidate Anthony Yigit in 2017, and he’ll be a sports hero in Spain even if he doesn’t win.
Martin said that he is open to a rematch with Garcia, but that he intends to return to 140 pounds in order to compete for the championship.
Garcia, on the other hand, is at a fork in the road as a well-known boxer who has already achieved so much. Garcia has lots of time left at 33, but 140 pounds (or 135) seems to be a much better weight for him. And, in order to reclaim his previous position as one of the greatest pound-for-pound fighters in the world, he has to beat Martin in a rematch with a resounding victory.
Garcia also said that if there is a rematch, he would like 12 rounds since he thought he was coming on strong down the stretch.
Jonathan Gonzalez had won the WBO 108-pound championship from Elwin Soto earlier in the night in a split-decision victory by scores of 116-112, 116-112, 116-112, 116-112, 116-112, 116-112, 116-112, 116-112, 116-112, 116-112, 116-112, 116-112, 116-112, 116-112, 116-112, 116-112, 116-11 (with a 116-112 tally for Soto).
Over the course of 12 rounds, Gonzalez, a southpaw from Puerto Rico, outboxed the hard-charging Soto from the outside. Soto (19-2, 13 KOs) has successfully defended his championship against Angel Acosta three times in 2019.
Gonzalez (25-3-1, 14 KOs) lost his only previous championship fight in 2019 against Kosei Tanaka in the seventh round via TKO. Soto entered the bout as the No. 4 rated 108-pound fighter on ESPN.
