The update is now available for all players, and it’s free.
Do you hear that hum? It’s the distant rumble of the Cantha hype train, and with this week’s Guild Wars 2 End of Dragons beta event, it’s coming a little closer. Guild Wars 2 players – yes, even freemium players – can log in and create a temporary Vindicator, Bladesworn, or Catalyst to try out starting this afternoon and running through September 25th, though keep in mind that you won’t be able to share everything with your real toons and that your progress won’t be saved after the event.
“The Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons second playable beta is out today, and it includes three new elite specializations that improve gameplay and provide players new ways to explore character vocations. Players may select between the new Bladesworn, Vindicator, and Catalyst elite specializations for the Warrior, Revenant, and Elementalist professions when they log into Guild Wars 2 for the first time. Everyone, even play-for-free accounts, will be allowed to participate in the beta through September 25.”
Today is also the commencement of the DirectX11 beta; users must opt-in in the settings panel in-game and then restart to see the anticipated graphics and performance improvements.
Also worth mentioning is that the next free episode in the living world seasonal repromotion, season four’s All of Nothing, is now available for claiming, along with its new accomplishments.
Players will be able to try out the WvW global reorganization in yet another beta starting on Friday, followed by two additional beta events in October and November.
