3 Buccaneers takeaways from Week 13 victory over Falcons

In the Buccaneers’ 45-28 victory over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 13, defensive tackle Gerald McCoy led Tampa Bay with 12 tackles and two sacks. The rest of the defense contributed as well, helping to limit a high-scoring Falcons offense that was averaging 34 points per game. Here are three key takeaways from this game for Bucs fans looking ahead at their upcoming matchup against Carolina Panthers on Sunday Night Football.

The “bucs beat falcons” is a football game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Atlanta Falcons. The game ended with a victory for the Buccaneers, who improved their record to 9-2 on the season.

With a 30-17 win against the division foe Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers moved to 9-3 on the season. The Buccaneers are presently tied for second place in the league with the Green Bay Packers, with the Packers holding the tie breaker due to conference record.

On Sunday, the Buccaneers offense, lead by Tom Brady, appeared entirely in sync. Brady completed 38 of 51 throws for 368 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception.

As the season goes, teams headed by Brady have a habit of hitting their stride. This looks to be the case once again for the Buccaneers.

Here are three significant lessons from the Eagles’ victory against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

Takeaways from the Buccaneers’ Week 13 victory against the Falcons

3. Rob Gronkowski is a game-changer for this offense.

Rob Gronkowski is already widely regarded as one of the best tight ends in NFL history and a lock for the Hall of Fame. He retired at an early age as injuries began to build and he seemed to be slowing down.

Now that we’ve reached Week 13, Gronkowski seems to be as dominating as ever. He had four receptions for 58 yards and two more scores in the game.

Gronkowski has already scored six touchdowns in his six games this season.

The Tampa Bay offense appeared out of sync when he was out, especially in the red zone. The Buccaneers have been on a roll offensively since he returned in Week 11.

2. The Buccaneers’ run defense has wrinkles in it.

Despite the offense’s dominance, the defense, particularly the rush defense, has been susceptible recently.

On just 23 carries, the Atlanta Falcons gained 121 yards. That’s more than five yards per shot. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen it in the last several months. The Indianapolis Colts had also surpassed 100 yards running the week before, while the Washington Football Team had nearly done so two weeks previously.

I’m not implying that they’ve jumped off a cliff. They are still easily one of, if not the greatest, rush defenses in the league. But it’s something to keep an eye on as the season progresses, as not having to worry about a team rushing the ball against them may be a tremendous help to a struggling secondary.

1. Even slowing down the Buccaneers attack will be difficult.

Tampa Bay’s offense has scored 30, 38, and 30 points in the previous three games since the return of the aforementioned Rob Gronkowski. It may not matter if Antonio Brown never returns since there are so many weapons.

Mike Evans is one of the game’s top deep threats. He’s quick, has strong route running ability, and is a big receiver at 6’5″ and 231 pounds. Chris Godwin, on the other hand, only caught 15 passes on Sunday. He has become a household name in the previous year or two, leading the team in catches and receiving yards.

With so much focus on those receivers, it’s difficult to escape a tough matchup with Gronkowski across the middle. Running back Leonard Fournette emerges from the backfield if you can keep him covered. He is without a doubt one of the top receivers in the league. Take a look at his hands.

It’s all done in the air. Fournette, on the other hand, is one of the league’s largest and baddest running backs. He is exceedingly difficult to tackle and has a strong desire to score.

This attack is very gifted, and any defense will have a difficult time slowing them down.
